The Civic Wire uses Google Analytics only after you accept analytics cookies. Declining does not restrict access to our reporting. Use “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of any page to change your choice. We store that choice in your browser so you do not have to answer on each visit.

What analytics measures

When enabled, analytics records page visits, traffic sources, device and browser information, approximate location and interactions such as scrolling or following a link. An article engagement event records when a reader has spent at least 30 seconds with the page visible and reached 75% of the article body. That is an engagement signal, not proof that someone read or understood an article.

Google Analytics uses cookies, including names beginning with “_ga”, to distinguish browsers and sessions. We use its reports to understand which coverage attracts readers and whether readers return. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in our site tag. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses or account login details to Google Analytics.

Your controls

Declining analytics prevents this site from loading the Google Analytics tag. If you previously accepted, declining stops further analytics collection and clears its cookies for this domain. It does not remove data already collected. Browser settings and content blockers can also limit collection.

Service providers and external links

Our hosting provider processes requests to deliver and secure the site independently of optional analytics. Google processes analytics data under its own policies. Links to source documents and social platforms take you to other services with their own privacy practices.
